9 Things I love about Winter...

Winter has officially hit South Africa. Some people, like my dad, are moaning “they hate winter!” But not me, I love winter. It is my favorite time of the year. Now if only we had snow, it would make winter all the better. So I created a list of all the things I love during winter.

Hot Chocolate…

A hot cup of cocoa is the best thing about winter. Nothing beats sipping slowly while reading a good book. The best hot chocolate recipe is warming milk and then pouring the milk over dark chocolate in a cup. Topped with a layer of whipped cream. Yummy!

Infinity scarves…

Who doesn’t love scarves? And infinity scarves are so much better. They never come loose and they will definitely keep you the warmest. I love really chunky infinity scarves, and after searching far and wide, I found the best at ...

Snuggling up with a good book and a blanket on the sofa…

Self-explanatory really, there is nothing better than wasting a day on the sofa with a good book. Now throw in a warm blankie and cuppa cocoa and the world can fall down around me.

Roaring fires…

Fireplaces + winter = bliss for me. Sitting on the rug playing board games while the fireplace heats up the whole room is one of the best things about winter.

Winter PJ’s…

Fluffy winter pj’s are the best thing ever. No one will ever judge you for wearing the corniest pj’s during winter, simply because they are warm. Pair them with comfy slippers and winter is perfect.

Layers…

Here is the thing I love about winter… You can layer layers and layers of clothes and it is fine. But in summer, being woman, we can’t strip off all our clothes and just walk with shorts like guys. No we will always have to some clothing on, no matter how hot it is. So give me winter any day.

Cuddles…

Nothing beats cuddles in winter. If you have a special guy / girl in your life, winter is the best time for cuddles. Now if you are a single mom, nothing beats cuddling with a little one. Them looking for heat and you being able to make them warm.

Soup…

Coming home to a big pot of vegetable soup is another one of the best things about winter. Or chicken soup, and it keeps the colds at bay.

Sleeping late on a cold Sunday winter morning…

Knowing you don’t have to get up, you can just turn around and go back to sleep. Bonus if a certain little man wants to cuddle, until he decides now it is time for mom to wake up and make breakfast.
