Movie Review : San Andreas at Cine Prestige Sandton City

On Saturday afternoon, while the weather was super gloomy, we decided to go and watch San Andreas. I had heard much hype about the movie, and even though I don’t like action movies, this one piqued my interest. I love movies that show things that could really happen for example, the tectonic plates moving. This movie was a thrill a minute but also had me in tear at a few scenes.

Synopsis

In the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California, a rescue-chopper pilot makes a dangerous journey across the state in order to rescue his daughter.

My thoughts

I loved this movie. Like I said I am not really a fan of action movies but this one has it all. I love movies about natural disasters that could happen any time soon, like 2012, and boy did this movie deliver. The San Andreas Fault line is busy erupting and Dwayne Johnson’s character has to save not only his soon-to-be ex-wife, but also his daughter.   He saves not only his daughter but two British lads who are visiting the bay area while their parents are on a cruise.

If you want action, suspense and that sitting on the edge of your chair feeling, then this movie is definitely for you. It also makes you visually aware of what could happen at any moment.

Cine Prestige at Sandton City

If you have been to the cinema, you know the seats are all ridged and straight up, with absolutely no room to move, right? Well let me introduce you to the best in cinema experience. If you live in South Africa, you would have heard of Ster Kinekor’s Cine Prestige.

This is unlike any cinema experience you have felt before (ok except for IMAX). When you arrive you are seated in an exclusive VIP lounge, where a waiter takes your order from a gourmet menu. So no popcorn and soda only, we are talking cakes, muffins and other delights. If you are seated in the cinema already, the waiter will bring you your food to your seat.

There are only 51 leather reclining seats in the cinema, from the +/- 215 seats in a normal cinema. The seats fully recline with the touch of a button and the seats are so wide you can sit with your legs folded. With tables for your popcorn, this is the ultimate way to watch movies.

The service is spectacular and it is just the best way to watch movies.

I certainly will not be watching movies in the normal cinemas anymore. Have you been to the Cine Prestige? Or does your country have something similar?
